WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Secondary students are active content creators on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. They have the largest social media followings of any school age group and are the most likely to create original content during a crisis event. They are legally responsible for their digital conduct and face real consequences. This module treats 16-18 year olds as the intelligent young adults they are with sophisticated tools for detecting AI content, understanding propaganda, and navigating UAE law.
- Identify five specific visual markers of AI-generated images: hand anatomy, background edges, reflections, embedded text, skin texture
- Identify video deepfake markers: facial boundary shimmer, unnatural blinking, audio sync issues
- Apply the SIFT framework specifically to TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, X, and WhatsApp
- Explain UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 as it applies to student content creation and sharing
- Assess your own digital footprint and identify at least two specific areas that could create issues
- Evaluate a crisis content scenario and make a documented, legally sound decision about what to share
This module includes a competitive spot-the-fake exercise with 8 sample images, a five-scenario SIFT practice session (one per platform), and a private digital audit exercise that students complete for themselves. Results are not shared with teachers. This module can be split into two 30-minute sessions if needed.
